On June 16, during the 2022 in-person conference held in Fort Collins, Colorado, Amy Rademaker officially took on role of president for the International Society for Agricultural Safety and Health (ISASH) Board of Directors. Rademaker is program coordinator for the Carle Center for Rural Health & Farm Safety in Urbana, Illinois.

“I am excited for the opportunity to serve in this leadership capacity with such a great board of directors and extremely passionate membership. I credit the growth of my local programs, because of the contacts and conversations that have happened at an ISASH conference through a network of agricultural safety and health professionals from around the globe,” stated Rademaker. “Networking is truly an area where ISASH shines, and as president I will challenge members to continue the momentum by keeping the lines of communication going following the conference. Throughout the pandemic and worldwide shut down, it was evident that agricultural hazards certainly did not subside or take a break. Luckily, neither did our skilled and dedicated group of ISASH members, as they kept emerging ag safety and health issues at the forefront. I am honored to lead this organization, and I hope to follow in the footsteps of our wonderful past presidents, many of whom are now colleagues and friends.”

Brian Kuhl of Hudson, Wisconsin, who serves as the president and chief executive officer of the Progressive Agriculture Foundation® was recently selected by the ISASH Board of Directors as the president-elect for 2022-2023. “With 2022 marking 60 years of the ISASH organization (starting out as the National Institute for Farm Safety in 1962), I find it very refreshing and encouraging to see such strong participation from both our current, long-standing members and many prospective, future members as we welcomed 16 students at our first in-person conference post-pandemic,” stated Kuhl. “By bringing together perspectives from our experienced, well-versed members and individuals with new, innovative ideas, I am looking forward to working with the board and our membership to lead this organization into the future.”

The ISASH board of directors is made up of global leaders in the agricultural safety and health industry. Board members include: Wendy Bennett (AgSafeBC), Gloria Brock (John Deere), James Carrabba (Bassett Healthcare/New York Center for Agricultural Medicine and Health), Dr. Steven Freemen (Iowa State University), Brian Kuhl (Progressive Agriculture Foundation), Amy Rademaker (Carle Center for Rural Health & Farm Safety), Dr. Athena Ramos (University of Nebraska Medical Center/Central States Center for Agricultural Safety and Health), Dr. Josie Rudolphi (University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign), and Carolyn Sheridan (Ag Health & Safety Alliance).

Freeman, a professor in the Department of Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering at Iowa State University, is the newest addition to the leadership team, with both Bennett and Ramos also being re-elected to second term.
